Measles is a very contagious illness with symptoms such as fever, rash, cough and redness of eyes. It can cause very dangerous consequences such as brain infection and pneumonia. In this research work, SIR model was formulated in order to assess the effect of public enlightenment on the transmission dynamics of measles infection in Kafin Hausa metropolis of Jigawa state. In the mathematical analysis section, the existence, boundedness, and positivity of the solution have been established. The existence of the disease equilibria indicates that there exist two equilibria for the model. They are disease-free equilibrium (DFE) and disease endemic equilibrium point (DEEP). It was determined that the DFE is locally asymptotically stable when the effective reproduction number is less than one (R < 1) and the DEEP is globally asymptotically stable when the effective reproduction number is greater than one (R > 1). The numerical simulation reveals that, the public enlightenment rate on Atypically and Severe exposed individuals is the important parameter to reduce the dynamics transmission of measles disease in Kafin Hausa metropolitan, Jigawa State.
