Author Guidelines

EDITORIAL POLICY

  1. Manuscripts submitted to the FUDMA Journal of Sciences (FJS) must be original and must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere, in whole or in part.
  2. Authors retain copyright of their published articles. By submitting to FJS, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide licence to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the article available in all formats and platforms.
  3. All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
  4. The journal operates an open-access policy. No part of any publication may be reproduced without proper citation and acknowledgement of the original work.

The Editorial Board makes every reasonable effort to ensure quality and accuracy; however, sole responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of data, results, and statements rests with the authors.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Authors must declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest.
  • All studies involving human subjects or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and have obtained all necessary approvals.
  • Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Spacing: Double line spacing
  • Margins: 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides
  • Page Setup: A4 size, single column
  • Page Numbering: Bottom centre of each page
  • Line Numbering: Continuous, restarting on each page

Manuscripts should conform to the following structure:

  1. Article Title
  2. Authors' Names and Affiliations
  3. Corresponding Author's Contact Details
  4. Abstract (maximum 250 words)
  5. Keywords (4–6 words or phrases)
  6. Introduction
  7. Materials and Methods
  8. Results and Discussion
  9. Conclusion
  10. Acknowledgements (if applicable)
  11. Conflict of Interest Statement
  12. Funding Acknowledgement (if applicable)
  13. References

Title

Should be concise, specific, and informative, accurately reflecting the subject matter of the manuscript.

Authors and Affiliations

Provide the full names of all authors, their institutional affiliations, and country. The corresponding author should be indicated with an asterisk (*) and must supply an email address and ORCID iD (where available).

Abstract

A single paragraph of not more than 250 words summarising the background, objectives, methods, major findings, and conclusions of the study.

Keywords

Provide 4–6 relevant keywords suitable for indexing and database retrieval.

Introduction

State the research problem, objectives, and significance. Review the relevant literature and clearly identify the knowledge gap being addressed.

Materials and Methods

Provide sufficient detail to allow replication of the study. Include the study design, materials, procedures, and statistical analysis methods employed.

Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly and concisely. The discussion should interpret findings in relation to existing literature and the study's stated objectives.

Conclusion

Summarise the key findings and highlight their implications and recommendations for future research or practice.

Figures and Tables

  • High-resolution figures are required (minimum 300 dpi for images; 800 dpi for graphs and diagrams).
  • Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively with clear, self-explanatory captions.

References

Use APA 7th Edition referencing style throughout. In-text citations should follow these formats:

  • One author: (Michael, 2002)
  • Two authors: (Ogbe & Segun, 2009)
  • Three or more: (Haruna et al., 2005)

ABBREVIATIONS AND UNITS

Use SI units and internationally accepted standards (IUPAC-IUB). Abbreviations should be defined at first use and used consistently thereafter.

SUBMISSION

All manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the journal's online submission portal or by email to: fjs@fudutsinma.edu.ng. Authors must ensure the manuscript is complete and fully conforms to these guidelines before submission. Evidence of payment of the submission fee must be uploaded alongside the manuscript.

PROOFS

Page proofs will be forwarded to the corresponding author as a PDF file. Corrections must be returned within 48 hours.

PUBLICATION TIMELINE

  • The journal publishes monthly.
  • Submission to first editorial decision: 3 days
  • Submission to decision after peer review: 10 days
  • Submission to formal acceptance: 24 days
  • Acceptance to online publication: 7 days

FEES

  • Submission Fee (Non-Refundable): Five Thousand Naira only (₦5,000.00) for Nigerian authors; Ten USD ($10) for international authors.
  • Publication Fee (After Acceptance): Thirty Thousand Naira only (₦30,000.00) for Nigerian authors; Fifty USD ($50) for international authors.
  • Evidence of payment must be uploaded alongside each submission.
