Peer Review Process
The Editorial Board of the FUDMA Journal of Sciences (FJS) comprises experts across the journal's broad multidisciplinary scope who are collectively committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific quality, rigour, and integrity. FJS is committed to a fast, transparent, and efficient review process.
Double-Blind Peer Review
All manuscripts submitted to FJS undergo double-blind peer review, in which the identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain undisclosed to each party throughout the review process. This approach ensures impartiality and protects the integrity of editorial evaluation.
Editor-in-Chief Assessment
Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief reviews each manuscript to determine whether it falls within FJS's broad disciplinary scope and meets the minimum standards required for peer review. The manuscript is then assigned to an appropriate Section Editor or Academic Editor based on the subject matter of the work.
Section Editor Assessment
The Section Editor evaluates the manuscript for scientific soundness and screens it for plagiarism using advanced detection tools. Manuscripts exhibiting an unacceptably high level of textual similarity will be rejected or returned to the authors at this stage. The Section Editor also verifies compliance with FJS's author guidelines before forwarding the manuscript to reviewers.
Peer Review
All qualifying submissions are assessed by at least two independent experts in the relevant discipline through the double-blind review process. The editor evaluates all reviewer feedback and reaches a final decision based on their collective recommendations:
- The manuscript may be accepted.
- The manuscript may be rejected.
- The manuscript may be returned to authors for minor revision.
- Where substantial scientific or methodological issues are identified, authors may be required to undertake major revisions and resubmit for a further round of review.
Note: The Editorial Board may decline a manuscript at any stage — without sending it for external review — if it does not meet FJS's standards or falls outside the journal's scope. Approximately 50% of submissions are declined at the initial evaluation stage.
Publication Timeline
FJS is committed to a rapid and transparent editorial process:
- Submission to first editorial decision: 3 days
- Submission to decision after peer review: 10 days
- Submission to formal acceptance: 24 days
- Acceptance to online publication: 7 days
Submission of Revised Manuscripts
When revising a manuscript in response to reviewer comments, authors must attach a comprehensive point-by-point response addressing each reviewer comment individually. Revised manuscripts are ordinarily returned to the original reviewers to assess whether the revisions have been adequately addressed. The article may then be accepted or forwarded for an additional review cycle.
Decision on Manuscript
FJS may decline a manuscript if it:
- Falls outside the journal's multidisciplinary scope in science and technology
- Does not meet the required standards of originality and scientific contribution
- Has an unacceptably high plagiarism similarity index
- Contains methodological or analytical flaws that undermine the reliability of the findings
- Lacks sufficient novelty following peer review
- Does not comply with FJS's author guidelines
In such cases, the Editorial Board may return the manuscript to authors with guidance on identifying a more appropriate publication venue.
Appeal Process
Authors may appeal a rejection decision within 30 days by contacting the Editorial Office. Appeals must include:
- Revised or corrected sections of the manuscript, as applicable
- A concise, one-page statement articulating the grounds for reconsideration
- Detailed point-by-point responses to any concerns raised during review
- A clear statement of the manuscript's scientific merit and contribution to the field
Manuscript Transfer
Manuscripts not accepted by FJS may be considered for transfer to partner journals. Where this option is available and accepted by the authors, it requires registration at the receiving journal and compliance with its specific requirements. Transfer does not guarantee acceptance.
